Hi can anybody help me about this question? many thanks in advance . I found SWA and MICC cables but I don't know the following cables: explain the applications, advantage and limitation for each of the following types of cables. consideration for each should include: ambient temperature, effect of moisture on insulation, UV rays, damage by animals, mechanical stress and vibration damage , aesthetic consideration : a)Single and multicore thermoplastic and thermosetting insulated cables b)Insulated and sheathed flat cables with protective conductor c)braided flexible cables d)data cables(twisted pair) e)Modular wiring systems f)Busbar and powertrack systems I would be appreciate if anybody help me.

a) is a standard type of cable that is insulated in either PVC (theromplastic) or XPLE (thermosetting)
b) this is standard twin and earth cable and the like
c) this is cabling generally used for period lighting applications, however they probably mean braided flexible control cable which is SY cable or the like and is a flex with a braided metal mesh screen and clear PVC sheath.
d) this is data cable soemthign of the sort as cat5e cable, comes as solid or stranded pVC shethed cable for transmitting data with minimum interference.
e) these are prewired systems that can be connected together in a "Plug and play" arrangment
f) these are systems with continuous rigid conductors from which tap offs to equipment can be made.

try googling the types of cable and most cable sites will tell you the intended applications and characteristics, from which you can then determine suitability, etc.

Surely this information would be contained in your course literature, (text books) ??

Hi Cotty Thanks for replying but I found some of them in my textbook but I don't know what effect moisture and UV Ray and aesthetic consideration have on single and multicore Thermoplastic and sheathed flat cables? I woud be appreciate if you help me?

UV degrades PVC, that's why you shouldn't use flat T&E, and like, outside in direct sunlight.

Found an article about moisture and cables, from which the quote below is taken. :)

"Occasionally, because of moisture, a cable will shortcircuit
to ground, accompanied by a shower of molten copper, soot, and
irate personnel.
