Hi all

Been a long time since I've been in here. I spend most of my time lurking round the tiles forums... anyway, my son is currently looking for an apprenticeship as an electrician. He is currently working for a company but is finding he is being used as just cheap labour and is working 55 hours plus every week. Whilst he has done some apprentice appropriate work He is currently installing security locks which does not give him anything towards his apprenticeship. He is thinking he should move on and find someone willing to teach him how to electrician.

Does anyone have a vacancy for an apprentice he could apply for. He is currently placed at Boston College for his college side and would be looking for something within about 30 miles of Spalding.

Thanks

I'm going to say it...

This would have been much better coming from him. Based on this, I wouldn't entertain the idea because it demonstrates a particular trait I believe is becoming much more prevalent in younger people... a lack of initiative.

If he's that unhappy you should be encouraging him to make the moves himself, not doing it for him. Makes me think of the old saying 'Give a man a fish, feed him for a day, teach the man to fish, feed him for a lifetime'.

Edit - As a first step, you could suggest he signs up an account here and applies to gain access to the trainee only area. And then maybe suggest he asks around on here, possibly help him prepare a CV.
