Hi all, can someone please tell me what are the benfits of becoming an approved contractor with the niceic . Ii might be missing something here but if you are a domestic installer and you under take work with an industrial or commercial nature you can just issue a green cert surely:rolleyes:.

Can anyone tell me what's the point:p

I think the same
I went for it last year but was told that I only need Domestic installer but they also do DIPQ scheme
Domestic instaler and periodic inspection only difference I can see in this scheme you can print your periodic certs on NICEIC certs as a domestic installer you cant buy them
:)

But i just can't see the point because can't you just do the periodic's on the greens as well:rolleyes: it just seem one big con yet again by the NICEIC boys again:mad:

Yes that is true, but if you do issue a green cert it will not be approved by the NICEIC. In fact your inspector is unlikely to even look at it.

The disadvantage then is you may be working for a contractor who insists you give him (or her) a certificate that has 'NICEIC approval'. That will not be the green ones, and they will know the difference.

You could even issue a certificate such as the one in the back of the regs rather than the green one. There is no legal difference as the green one is simply 'based' on this.

so if you join the domestic installer periodic scheme you are not niceic approved for periodics?
whats the point in the extra ÂŁ300.00 then?

Hi matt456. If you are on that scheme you ARE coved by the NICEIC, But what i'm trying to get at is that you can do a periodic by simply taking the nic hat off and it save you money:p. As for the indusrial side i surpost you will get the odd company that what you to be nic approved but how likely is that:confused:
