Hello all, i work for a non jib company so they dont pay the jib rates.
I would just like to know what you all think an jib graded approved electrician should get paid.
I mostly work in london and have a company van with all expenses paid.
Ive been qualified 2391-10 since may 2012 (sat the march paper), how ever ive been competent to do intial verifications for many years, i have been fully qualified with a modern apprenticship since 2001.
would appreciate if any bosses or supervisors of firms could please comment.
And just to add my qualifying manger is putting me forward to be a qualifying supervisor at our next NICEIC yearly inspection (due within the next 4-8 weeks).
thank you :wink5:

Im getting paid £11.50 ph...... im debating wether or not to go back as self employed or should i stay on the books. As we all know most jobs advertised now are for around £13ph but then you have your own expenses to pay.

£14.35 ph is the going rate for SJIB up here in Scotland. I would think London would be much more. Agency up here pay from £12 to £13 ph but I've seen as low as £11ph. I'm looking for work in Glasgow and find alot of jobs require IPAF & PASMA before you can apply. Companies are transfering the training to the individuals repsonsibilities it would appear.

My queery on pay was based around getting all my expenses paid then getting paid £11.50 ph, not through an agency. Is it enough considering when your self employed or agency you have to pay all your expenses?????

Getting expenses is hard to get these days. You might have to do some calculations to work out your rate. I'm a rooky when it comes to agency. I was working for a company for 14 years & now I'm agency.

To put this pay into context, I had a tour of the Jaguar factory in Brum the other day. Highly automated plant but someone doing a very basic ( at best semi-skilled) role putting adhesive pads around the rear windows, or checking rivets was earning £550 for a 37 hour week or £15 an hour. :(
