Are connector blocks in a fuse board against regs? Ive got an niceic inspector coming out and i want everything perfect? Thanks

I wouldn't. If you've got an inspector coming and you need to extend cales, could you put an enclosure outside of the consumer unit and wago or crimp in it, having nice new cables in the c/u?

I used a consumer unit with block connecters inside for my elecsa assessment. There was no problem! It was a board change with a few other things and the cables were short. Just make sure you use the correct rating blocks for the circiut and that there's no stress pulling the cable.

i never use crimps on solid cable! so unpredictable! WAGO all the way! its a revolution

oh sorry back to post, a connection in CU is fine
so, anybody got some 7/029 for sale. it's better cable hands down

After getting a crappy batch of connectors (screws kept losing thread on slightest tweak of torque) I tried Wago - absolutely brilliant - haven't looked back

Mind you, they're only any good up to 2.5mm2 and 20A, so wouldn't help with the shower or oven circuits.

To extend the conductors on CU I prefer crimps then heatshrink.

As you'll be out of power when it comes to doing the heatshrink my tip is a really small 300A 12V car batt from Halfords (£68) and a DC-AC inverter from Amazon (£12).

Wago lever connectors are up to 32A, these are up to 41A
