Hello I wonder if anyone can give me some advise as its all looking a bit bleak out there at the moment and the idea of becomeing a diamond thief is looking more and more appealing to be honest.

I am one exam away from completeing my C&G 2230. I have just the 303 and AM2 left to do. where did the three years go.

When I started college the tutors said that once we have completed the course we will be able to find work as an electrician fairly easily as this was a qualification that they look for. Happy days I thought. The plan was to be a self funded student so that I could improve my self. 2 years into the course and we were told that unless we could find an apprenticship we could not come back for the 3rd year as the new goverment had new rules. After trying and trying and trying I managed to get myself an apprenticeship on the very last day, but it meant that I would have to work for free and pay for the apprenticeship fees which although harsh at least let me continue the course and meant that 2 years would not have been wasted.

Well its become obvious that this is not going to be the case, im not sure if this was the case before the recession but if it was then I guess its just bad luck. Looking around at electrician vacancy alot well all really require at least 2230 and 17 eddition (2382) i think it is. So I will have to get that at the very least after this course.

some comanys ask for C&G 236 pts 1&2 can anyone tell me what this is as I dont think I can keep affordning all these courses.

Does anyone know of any companys takeing people on I live in camberley

IMO you shouldn't have to but it seems to be what all the employers are asking for.
If you did the 2330 to 17th you can just do the 1 day update.

the 17th is a short course or exam only, you will need it so do it next, depending on your work experience these quals will allow you to get a job with most firms (more and more are asking for 2391 also these days)

I thought that the money was in testing so if everyone starts asking for that as a basic requirement then theres going to be no money in that. I was also told that the 2391 is a really hard exam and the pass rate is 20% so I think there asking a bit much to be honest.

I would have thought the low pass rate for the 2391 could partly be blamed on its inclusion in a lot of the 6 week wonder courses - it's a bit much to expect someone to pass an already fairly tricky course when until 6 weeks ago they didn't know one end of a screwdriver from the other.

It's definately worth having though - recently it was "must have 17th edition and preferably 2391" now more and more seem to be stipulating "must have 17th edition and 2391".

You should breeze 2382 (or 2383 as I think it will soon be), given that you have been looking up regs for weeks. Ask your college tutor about it as they might just let you do the exam which should be cheap.
