It is safe to put a switched fused spur next to a socket in a utility room then drill through wall to outside in 2.5mm t&e in to a waterproof box and come out with 2.5mm 3core armoured cable up the side of house to a shed with a run of about 17M then in to a garage consumer unit in the shed? All it is to power a light and few sockets, nothing to power demanding? Thanks.

SAFE, YES. POOR DESIGN THOUGH. SHED WILL BE LIMITED BY THE 13a FCU. BETTER BY FAR TO COME FROM THE CU.

edit: bloody caps lock again. doh.

Thought is was safe, many people have told me no. Well the CU is under the stairs in the middle of the house so it will require floor boards up and very expensive as all new carpets have not long gone down. I did say to them you can't pull massive amount of power but you can run a lawnmower no worries which would be the most powerful appliance they would use on their anyway. So that's all good. Thanks.

If you must do that way, lose the T&E and bring the SWA innards all the way to the FCU.
No extra joints then.
Might need a bit of tube in the wall for protection.

I would also take the inner of the armour through the wall, also bolt down the armour sheath
Personally, I wouldn't bother the consumer unit in the shed, switch the light via a switch spur

Agree. If your coming from a FCU. Just put a socket and another FCU for the lights in the shed. No need for a consumer unit in there.
