Armoured Cat5

Hi,

I need about 25-30 metres of armoured cat5. Anyone got any recommendations on where to get it from at a reasonable price?

I thought the same till I went to quote a job other day. They already had a few lengths of it coming from a patch panel and running on the outside of the house. Customer wants another one putting in same way. Trying to avoid paying for a 100m drum. Very expensive.

Is this a terminology thing and do you mean screened or do you require armoured cat5 as you have requested. The links you thanked show screened cat5 ...its not an armouring its there to stop interference but has the added bonus of making the cable more durable... if you don't require screening then yes it can be utilised as a rough service cable but caution on how you earth the screening as it can lead to circulating currents that cause interference which is all dependant on the job in hand.

Doesn't need to be screened, It just needs to be suitable for outdoor use. I thanked them for replying and giving me links to company's that could help.

No worries my mistake only checked the other link out it was just a query as many have called screened cable armoured on here before but you seem to be one of the few who actually needed cat 5 swa but your sorted now anyway

Never seen armoured Cat 5 before. Generally if it's in a harsh environment I'd probably used metal conduit. Cos where one Cat 5 cable runs, another usually follows Lol :95:
