asbestos worries

Is anyone else worried about asbestos, and what levels do you protect yourself. I invested in a decent respirator but it is impractical to where it everytime you're working, I only really put it on in extreme dust. Just curious really

Cant let it worry you if you do find it walk away and report nothing you have will save you from problems so leave it to the specialists.

if i saw it i would, but the recent campaign on the radio, etc explained how it could be anywhere and comes in lots of forms

If it's a commercial or Industrial premises ask for their aspestos register,
If it's domestic use you loaf if you come across it don't disturb it report it

Doing my 2330 at college, we were constantly reminded, health & safety this, health & safety that. We were told repeatedly about how dangerous it was and that it had to be removed by specialists.

Do you know the ironic part of this little story? After all of this training that was drummed into us, not one of our tutors had ever actually showed us what it looked like...

I was thinking the exact same thing!! dont most sites look for an asbestos qual now anyway?

Industrial and commercial sites of a certain age can have alot of asbestos in pipe lagging cement provided the outer "skin" is unbroken there should not be a problem also fire breaks may have asbestos board as mentioned in an earlier post all sites should have an asbestos report / register and quite often the affected areas will have warning labels / signs

Beware of old storage heaters seen a few sites where the storage heater fans were pushing more than the permitted parts per million of asbestos fibres and dust into the atmosphere from the insulating boards and these had to be removed by specialists as we had worked inside these repairing them before it came to light we were sent for check ups by the health authority whose building they where in
