Hi,

In Scunthorpe, can travel anywhere in Lincolnshire and yorkshire for experience.

currently on level 2..before moving on to level 3 and 18th ed.
I'm anxious to start at least doing a little bit of shadowing/observing on-site but I've seen that a lot of people really struggle to get given the chance to do this.
I know I'm looking fairly early, but I really want to start building up some sort of experience sooner rather than later.

Just wondered if anyone had any particular tips or success stories? I've been warned off being too direct in case contractors and the like see me as future competition. But how the hell do you gain experience without being direct about it ? Is there a particular approach ?
I'm debating asking local colleges/universities and such if I could possibly shadow their in-house electricians/maintenance teams but I've no idea if that's really a done thing..
