Evening guys,
Just doing some digging around, im going to apply to niceic DI and for my smaller job i need to add a double socket in at home ill be spurring of the ring but im the spur will be out the ccu as the socket is at the back of the ccu and down the wall.
Is this job acceptable?
The only issue i have is that my ccu is a 6 way steeple and a 30mA rcd as the main switch is this acceptable or should i change it to a main switch? I suppose at least the installation as a rcd on your thoughts would be great guys.
Cheers

What size cable do you intend using? I wouldn't use 2.5mm straight from the ccu to supply a socket as a spur, as that cable will protected by a 32a breaker! (assuming its 32a)!

For the minor job could you not just replace a socket, like for like!

Yes it is a 32a i see where your coming from but im sure that its acceptable coming off the ccu with 2.5mm as i remember at college doing this and they have it in the big red book wiring situations towards the back of the book.
Im not sure what i could do as a minor job was wondering you guys might know a few that they accept?

have you got a spare way in the CU? if so you could fit a 16A MCB and create a new radial circuit. or, could you divert one leg of the ring to the socket, then from socket to CU, thus maintaining the new socket as part of the ring ( a joint may be necessary, if accessible, a screw terminal JB by the CU would comply.)

Nothing wrong with doing that, but make sure you leave the 30ma RCD in. You need to check the main bonding is installed as well. I don't mind helping future NICEIC members lol
