Hi all...in reference to main gas bonding. Does it have to be within 600mm of gas meter/entry to property? Is this hard and fast or is it possible to put it as close as possible before any joints or tees?If it isn't hard and fast, what reg stipulates this in the BRB? Had a look and cant find it ...

The regs say where reasonably practicable,if for instance the meter was external and the gas pipe went under floorboards to a boiler and then teed off elsewhere this is where i would bond to,by the sounds of your post you must be having a bit of bother with access to bond, main bonding in the regs should have some form of diagram on certain scenarios so we can meet the requirements, there is an niceic snags and solutions book on earthing & bonding,i dont have a copy but expect it would be in there.ive just finished off a bottle of red wine and hope i have not made any spelling mistakes hiccup lol

Where reasonably practicable, part of 526.3 Every connection shall be accessible for testing etc,. On the installation side before any branchwork.544.1.2
tell that to the kitchen fitters who panel over the connections and to the plumbers who disconnect them.

Indeed it would be. But that would mean having 2 things to disconnect instead of one. More margin for error. Of course, any diligent spark would...
