I know this is not the Astra forum, but i keep posting on the astra forum with no replys o_O

My GF has a Astra 1.7 CDTI, 54 plate iirc, man its broke! Ok so you drive along and its SOSOSSO SLOW.. In my 1.7 CDTI VAN if im at 30 going on a level road, in 3rd it accelerates fast..

In GF car 30mph, straight flat road.. 3rd gear ACCELERATE must take about 30-40 seconds to hit 40MPH.. BIIIIIIIIIIIG ISSSUE!! When it does this issue theres a car with a spanner on the dash

Any help

:)

Your car appears to be in "limp mode" . Probably one of the sensors have failed or you have a problem with engine management , lots of things can cause this . They have you by the short and curlies, a diagnostic sweep will tell you the exact cause , but it is probably related to fuel management or emission control.

As above. Get a diagnostics guy out. Should cost ÂŁ40 and it will tell you whats wrong then you can decide where to go from there. Or just chuck it in the dealership and get them to fix it

I don't know about that but if she breaks down she will get roadside assistance so they may tell you the cause , they deal with this all the time so they will know all the models problems.

Is ure GF morbidly obese and what doctors refer to as bed-ridden?

If not....

the cars ****ed.

lol.

Is it running on all cylinders?

I've just recently had a problem with my MR2 which decided to only use three cylinders. The fault was an injector which had stopped working properly.:wheelchair:

I've replaced the faulty injector & it's now back to it's normal s**t-off-a-stick performance. :auto:

If you do a google search there is a way of getting some astras to flash the fault code onto the dash, if not you can gewt cheap fault code readers on ebay. I'm lucky my astra is one of the former.

Common causes are EGR valve, cam sensor and speedo pick up. Is the speedo working correctly?

Yeh speedo seems to work right i was thinking sensor as when i had my Audi A3 a sensor went on that and it did same thing pretty much limping around

With the slow acceleration at least she'll have more time to put her lippy down before hitting something....might even have enough time to touch the brake....

same happened to mine, its a sensor fault, limp mode wont go above 50mph,there must be some independent vauxhall garages round your way, either that or its main dealer prices, its a common fault so most indie garages should be able to fix it for a fraction..

Thats right most of the independent garages have the diagnostic equipment and do a "sweep" as has been said for around ÂŁ40.
