ATOM cable

Got some 2.5 T&E recently from a well known electrical supplier, its ATOM brand and appears to be from some eastern country and also says Kabal on the reel,I don't like the look of it,its got a channel running down the middle of each side so the cross section is figure 8. I didn't notice until I had used some,the insulation seems good enough quality but I don't feel happy about using it as clipped direct unprotected due to the way the outer sheath looks.Too late to take it back as I've used some.Wondered if anyone else had been supplied with it or is it the shape of things to come?I think I'll keep it for running in trunking and use "proper cable" for clipped direct.

that said Whos there to prove it IS what it says it is any chinese manufacturer can imprint BASEC its reely keech watching all the Imposters ciggies ect ect

I wouldn't be too concerned about it saying 'kabal' or 'kablo' or anything like that... we're all in the EU now so as long as it's BASEC theres nothing to worry about, although if you aren't happy with the quality of the cable avoid using it in future and raise your concerns with your supplier.

Now, if it says 'ATLAS KABLO' on it, you may have a problem, as their BASEC licence was revoked for shoddy cable, but there's still a heck of a lot of it in circulation

Yea we had the same thing. There was an article in professional electrician about that manufacture 6 months or so back. It's turkish cable. There was a problem with it because it didn't have enough copper content.

Have you bought alot of it? If they won't take it back, maybe insist instead on a letter from the wholesaler garenteeing that it is safe to use? Our company sent it all back, as we didn't want to be associated with it at all.

Have used some before didnt have any problems with it myself to be honest.

Although atom have a factory in denzili and head office in istanbul.....
As to do atlas lol!!!
