Has anyone fitted the GU10 firerated downlighters supplied by Avantech? Come from a trading co called red arrow.. not prefitted lamps but fit your own halogen/LED which I prefer because different people have different preferences on colour, beam angle etc.
They sent me some info on them, they looked ok and they only ÂŁ6 each plus vat..
What attracted me to them, apart from the price, was they are diecast twist n lock fronts and the wire terminals are PUSH FIT! it really bugs me that with JCC fittings for instance, one has to use two different screwdrivers to undo then refit 6 screws in each light.
I ordered some, arrived today and am quite impressed.. not a screw in sight! - there is a chunky terminal box which pushes onto the can side clip once wired up, all very sturdy; the cover is a push fit latch which snaps open with a small flat blade, there is accommodation for a pair of wires into each of L1, L2, N, and E ; the wires-in are strain relieved by the plastic moulding so there is no fiddly clamp to screw down; the lid then snaps shut.
The can is 90mm high and the hole dia is 75mm for fixed, 90mm for tilts. Alleged to be tested to BS 476 for fire (90min) and BS EN ISO 140 for acoustic.
I also bought two types of LED lamp to try out with them, 5W and 3W, both good prices of ÂŁ3.25 and ÂŁ2.95
Just wondered if anyone had experience of fitting and using these, as have not wired any up in anger as yet but so far they look like could be a real time and cost saver..
Cheers..
