is it allowable to fit a 58watt ballast into a 36watt fitting. please resolve an argument.thanks
 
Clearly it could physically be done if he has done it!
Whether it works or not is an entirely different matter, and if it happens to go bang and let the magic smoke out it could be fun to watch.

Do either of you understand what the ballast is actually doing in the circuit?
