Hi, I have been asked to provide a quote for a ballasted system to go onto a flat roof. I'm not a qualified surveyor but I dont think the roof will take the extra tonnage that will be required.
I've been told that there is a non penetrative system that works a bit like the foil on the back of an F1 car, the higher the wind speed the more downward pressure?

If anyone can offer any advice or any innovative ideas how to get around this problem I would be very grateful.

Get a structural survey caried out on the roof, then you will know what you can put up there.
I hope this helps.

You need to use a local structural engineer so he can calculate and confirm your thoughts are correct he may have another idea for you to spread the load first with a platform etc and then add your ballast system and panels:smoking:

Are you thinking of the solion sunmount? this is the lowest weight system I have seen

We have used solion, it's very good re ballast as depending on the building height you may not need any ballast ( the guys as solion will calculate this for you). The downside is you are very limited on panel choice and this makes large systems expensive.
we have also used fast sun which is fairly low ballast, lower than the consoles, and works with almost all panels.

The new solions will fit most panels as they are cut to fit, and have different clamp positions for differing width panels, not widely known about and not cheap!!!
