bannanas and voltage

was sent to check two cctv cameras down on friday. when i got there the boxed had the power box had been knocked off wall and the cables had grazes and splits in them. i fixed fw connections and done continuity test as is a long run. and continuity was fine. when i powered up again i was getting 247v between L-E but between L-N i was only getting 135v. now help me with this simple query please .

isit normal for 12v powerpacks to burn out in your expieriences... thanks if you wise me up

I'd be curious as to what you read between Neutral and Earth. I'm a bit green on this but for that to be the case doesn't it mean that Neutral is sitting at 247v - 135v = 112v

but continuity is therre , does this make a differnece tel.. talk about pretending i know it all

when you test continuity, you are only applying a few volts dc. as soon as you apply a load any poor connection on the neutrasl will show up. i has exactly the same thing on a house ring the other week. plug in an extensin lead with neon, the neon lit. as soon as a load was plugged in, N went to 110V, ( floating ) and turned out to be poor connection s in back of a socket.
