Just come back from Barbados where we met a guy who installs solar pv over there. Chatting for a while he commented on how well the panels perform over there, not particularly surprising until he qualifies it by saying the panels are producing approx 5kwh/kwp a day.
Now obviously that's almost every day so over the year that's much better than the UK, but it does demonstrate the reduced efficiency of panels as it they get hotter. even in the North where we are, on a warm Spring day we'd be producing 6 - 7kwh/kwp.
We didn't see a lot of pv over there, apart from bus stops where almost every panel was shaded, many almost completely! Apparently there are approx 20 installers over there for a population of 270k on an island that's 23 miles long by 14 miles wide, that's a lot of competition!
