Hi all,

Has anyone used the basec cable that Cef stock (black drum, alternative to Pirelli fp)?

Can't believe this stuff is legal, the insulation surrounding the cores is so soft and spins round, stretches etc.

We used this cable for a large part of a big job and had so many issues when ir testing. Cables split in back of boxes behind sockets, if you need to strip a meter or so of it at the distribution board end then every now and then the insisting splits and needs re-sleeving or taping up. Pirelli is 100 x better.

Anyone else had issues with this cable?

Apparently the Australian Authorities have recalled multi millions pounds worth of BASEC cable, not sure if it's the same stuff you are using.

That rings a bell what Davesparks said above. The trouble is anyone can print anything on cables - it's like anything else, there's counterfeit stuff out there. Daz
