Morning,
I’ve only ever used a kewtech MFT and I’ve bought a Megger 1710

On the back of the tester above I have the following colour coded terminals for the test leads.
L3 Blue
L2- Green
L1+ Red

Q1. What leads should I plug in to do the end to end tests on a ring final circuit.
Doing the
L - L
N-N
CPC to CPC to get r1 r2 rn

Q2. Testing at the sockets using the supplied socket testing lead.

When I cross connect L +N do I need to connect L3 blue and L1 Red leads at the back of the tester.

When I cross connect L +CPC do I need to connect L2 green and L1 Red leads at the back of the tester.

Thanks in advance for any help - I cant make sense of the manual or maybe I haven't read it properly.

Combining details from the instruction manual:
Connect two test leads to the L1 (+ve) and L2 (-ve) terminals on the instrument. A continuity measurement is made automatically.

For Live to Neutral measurements, connect the Red connector to the L1(+ve)terminal and the Blue connector to the L2(-ve) terminal.
For Live to Earth measurements connect the Red connector to the L1(+ve)terminal and the Green connector to the L2(-ve) terminal.

Thanks for the quick replies - I have a day off today due to clunking my head a big nail hanging out of a joist yesterday, and needed to be stitched up. :)

I'm going the test the two ring final circuits in my own house.
I watched the the video recently but it confused me a bit because he has a black lead which I haven't got.
I'm guessing the L3 terminal only comes into play on three lead tests. ?

so the blue will be substituted for black. if the MFT is 2nd hand, someone has swapped a duff lead.

Thanks for that, I bought form a budget website - brand new. Probably ÂŁ30 quid cheaper than most places.
I hope it's not dodgy.

Thanks again I have completed the tests, recorded my results I'm going to check later if it meets the regs.
I have a fair idea they do cos I didn't get any 'out of the ballpark' readings.

My CU is in a infuriatingly awkward position under the stairs with no room to maneuver.
I only had to change the leads on one of the figure of 8 tests. the L-Ns
