Who are the resident bassists here?

Pick or fingers?

Best bass line?

Favourite player?

Top tip?

Spector, Yamaha and Vintage basses. Ohm GA 125 Amp, Marshall JCM 4x12 cab, Marshall 2x15 (for the bottom end)
Played with a pick most times but with fingers when it suits.
Best bass line, That's a tough one....
Favourite player, depends on me mood. Sometimes Geddy Lee, most of the time Lemmy, sometimes Billy Sheehan, John Entwistle (a lot of the time)
Top Tip? Practice, practice, practice. When you're done practicing, do it some more
:)

Ahhhhhh fingers every time.

Marshall Dynamic bass 4 x 12" cabinet and Marshall 7400 amp head.
Custom built Music man bass.
Lots of favs but Entwhistle was the kiddy and Van Morrisons 'moon dance' line is classic:)

I'm crap mind but got all the gear:beatnik2:

Been learning deep notes for 18 months... Started off with a Westfield Pbass, ÂŁ50 with a tiny Squire amp and book, to test the fad factor. Picked up a Vintage small body 24 fret bass then an Epi Tbird with a Laney 30watt amp. I keep going back to the Westi, thought it may be due to the flattys I put on it, so tried them on the others. I must prefer the feel.

I'm all fingers. I like
Geezer's stuff along with Leon Wilkison's Free Bird effort according to UG tabbing. Nick Oliveri's baseline in QOTSA No one knows.

I struggle with moving between octave strings.

Forget Marshall .................. Gan doon darza with Burman !!! ;)

Oh I forgot to add, nowt goes on any of my guitars whether bass, lead or acoustic but D'addario strings. It's one of the few things I'm snobby on.

I used to use picks always struggled with fingers. My favourite bassist is probably "The Flea" or Lemmy. One of the bass lines I like the most is sunshine of your love by cream. Pretty easy to play but I like it. Top tip would be never eat yellow snow!

I like watching Roger Waters playing bass and it gives him time to wander around on stage and direct the rest of his band keeping them in order.

can any of you bassists explain " 7/4 isn't the exactly the most common time signature in rock but it certainly didn't stop the opening track on side two of The Dark Side Of The Moon from attaining classic status" as not able to play a note that means nothing to me lol

It's how many beats to a bar and which note value = a beat
That's as simple as I can make it mate probably someone else can explain it better.
Most rock songs are in a much simpler time signature.

I'll think you'll find the 7/4 was William Hills price on it going to No.1 in the album charts mate :)

Are Burman amps still made? A mate of mine used to have one years ago and it was a monster

No they are not.

Gregg (Burman) has been asked to start up again many times but has always resisted the temptation.

I believe his health is not too good nowadays having suffered a heart attack, but would be happy to be corrected on this. He is a very nice bloke.

Ok, since posting this, I have found this link: http://www.burmanamp.co.uk/

so maybe he is back up and running?
