Bathroom cabinet lighting

Am in process of 2nd fix on some new builds, brought feed down in bathroom for large mirror light above twin basins, bathroom design has now been changed by builder !!!
Wall unit with mirrors on front now been installed but builder is adamant he still wants lighting underneath, bottom of cabinet is only 500mm from taps so still in zone 2.
Am struggling to find a solution to this and bathroom fitter is on my case as he wants to finish the tiling, any ideas ?

How will the cabinet light come on, switch of manual switch on/in the cabinet? How about LED strip stuck on the underside of the cabinet and housing transformer in a small adapter box inside?

Switch will have to be in cabinet, only permanent l & n, only issue is mains voltage switch inside cab, the transformer could be housed on top as there is service area behind cabinet.

There is no Zone 2 above a hand basin.

So long as the lights are IPX4 and you keep the switches out of zone 2 then you are OK.

Edit: Well done Murdoch, I assumed it was the bath taps!

Thank you Murdoch I shall see if I can get a socket above the basins then and they can just plug a table lamp in as it is 3m from the bath

Nothing in the regs stopping you. Seriously there isn't a zone above a hand basin or sink
