Folks,

Doing a bathroom job presently and none of the lighting circuits have a CPC....it's an old topic I know and I'm aware of of requirements so I'll not be fitting that fancy bathroom spotlight!

However, what in theory is wrong with *temporarily* borrowing a CPC from the adjacent shower circuit while the circuit is re-wired? Not that I'm proposing to do this but I'm struggling with the theory...everything I've found in the Regs says what you should do but not what (or why) you shouldn't.

- Yes, CPC sizes are different
- Yes, if the shower is disconnected in future then the lights wouldn't be protected
- Yes, could introduce a fault from one circuit onto another

....but is that it?

could you use ELV fitting fed via tranny. class 2 tranny so no cpc required.

looks like you is going to have to earth ther lighting then. single 1.5 cable from CU.

4.00mm I think as a separate CPC.

I've been trying to avoid it as the single cable run to the CU is complicated and some will run outside. A lighting circuit re-wire is an option but hugely disruptive if they are happy with Class II fittings.

PS. Need to do a few more re-wires before I can get a Porsche! :D

I have just done the low voltage bit as we had no earth, the only thing I would say is to write on the JB that there is no earth connection at that point, plenty of room for it on the new type of junction boxes we should be using for downlighters
