Bathroom Extractor Fan

Hi,

I am newbie to extractor fans and I would like to buy the fan for my bathroom, so can someone advise me which brands are best value for money.

The fan will be wall mounted as our bathroom is on upstair and there is an outside wall available.

Do I need to provide the measurements of the bathroom ?

As for type there are so many and the old adage is what you pay for is what you get. Someone on here might recommend a particular fan make but if yours is a dud one then he will feel a little responsible. Just check the web and see what you like

Here are the measurement of my Bathroom as below

Length: 2.17m
Width: 0.95m
Height: 2.35m

any 4" fan will do, some are better than others.Electric Center do a reasonably priced one. Just be aware that, as the fan is usually powered from the upstairs lighting circuit, there must be RCD protection on this circuit. If your consumer unit is more than 2 years old, it's likely that the lighting circuits are not RCD. Also, you must fit a fan isolator . Hope this helps

Doesn't a bathroom fan pose any hazard? I'll go with windows, they're safer and look better too.

Do you need to put a isolation switch in with a bathroom fan thats on with the lights?

The fan will need local isolation and 3a fusing....as is nearly always specced in the manufacturers instructions. It is normally easier to insert an FCU with 3a fuse at the beginning of the bathroom lighting, thus catching the switched and permanent lines.
