Hi, I have a fan in my bathroom which has two wires to the pull switch they are both red, i want to remove the pull switch and wire to my light switch. The light switch has three wires red, black and green. my house s approx 17years old is this possible to do. do i need a new light switch. both are pull swtiches, so once complete when the light is pulled it will turn the light on with the ceiling lamp

thanks for looking

any part p registered domestic installer electrician in your area should have no problem easily doing this within a day for you. this could be with or without making good though depending on who you use and price etc. make sure the work is certificated.

Is this a fairly old fan as well?

You could get a fan with a delay timer etc and wire from your light fitting if it's a loop in type. But is it really worth the hassle?

This work is in a special location and so would require notification to your LABC.

It may be cheaper in the long run to get a certified spark in to do it for you.

Also, normal light switches are not permitted in certain zones in the bathroom, which is why there is a pull switch.

If you do wish to install a normal light switch it would need to be fitted outside the bathroom door.

:)

Just to clarify - Are you saying that you have 2 seperate pull cord switches in your bathroom, one for the fan only and one for the light?

Yes one wire nut will grab a wire but I will suggest an orange one because the wire is 14 gage wire for lighting.
