Discuss bathroom lightswitch in the Australia area at ElectriciansForums.net

That would comply to regs, one that is suitable for the area in IP rating, noticed on holiday in spain all light switches were Ip rated in bathrooms,no pullcords,i normally fit outside if they dont want pullcords, but still dont think its great to have it within,i would suppose they dont want it outside because of others turning them on/off,wireless remote sensors might solve a problem, may be a bit expensive compared to normal switch, and what if the iee change regs again next year and no switches of any sort allowed in bathrooms.

Do you fit IP rated switches and sockets in the kitchen??? If the bathroom is big enough to consider switch plates, RCD protection is in place and correct ventilation rates there shouldnt be a problem.

i understand the what ifs but black and white regs its ok, right?

'Black and white reg's' and it complies, there is no IP rating specified for accessories and equipment located outside of the perimeter of zone 2, unless manufacturers instructions say otherwise.

The 3-metre rule applies to BS1363 socket outlets.

We've been fitting a cheap occupancy PIR to bathroom installations, looks good, can save energy and customers really like them!

thanks all
inside or out side the room is my only option , high spec job most of the bath rooms have 4 gang dolly or dimmer switches and are as an old school sparks it just seems odd to put them on the inside

hey got to move with the times!!!
