every time i click on the ripped dvd threads, malwarebytes warns me that it's just blocked access to a malicious site.

based on that, i'd just like to warn people to be careful. i don't know if they can affect your computer from simply looking at the posts, but if you haven't got any malware protection, i'd consider getting some or, just ignore their posts.

Looks like they have started with abundance again can't the boys from IT put a block on them

i don't know mate, but it's getting beyond a joke now. i'm assuming it's harder than we think, otherwise they'd have got it sorted by now. think i'll log out for a bit myself - i don't think there's any mod's on at the minute, so the spammers might be on for a while.

can't we do like in independence day and plant a virus in the bot's computer?

Please don't click on any outgoing links in spam threads. I can tell you for sure that the movies they're advertising are fakes, they're incorrectly tagged for a start plus some of them are tagged as DVDRip's long before the release of even a region 5 retail version of that movie so they can't be genuine.

If you report at least one of the offending spam threads then all the staff get an email. Usually one of the cooler Mods (like Sintra) will have some kind of mobile device so he should get notification of the report and probably respond quite quickly.

thanks for the warning marvo, but i haven't clicked any outgoing links, not once. the warnings i get from malwarebytes flag up as soon as i view the thread. i know it sounds weird but that's what's happening.

Malwarebytes will be checking the pages that are linked to in the spam thread and warning you before you click on them.

You want DVD? 5 for £10

u cant have virus by reading posts lol, however yu might get a troyan attached to some pictures but those file extensions are banned on most forums.

It is possible to have malicious scripts embedded in just about any web page including a forum board. There's lots of exploitive XSS code injection attacks around at the moment as well but hopefully between your browser and your antivirus they're mostly stopped. Obviously avoiding high risk websites is a good strategy and use a sandbox. Here's a very good free one, if you chose not to pay or register after a month you'll just get a 5 second nag screen.

How can you guys think that clicking on a link to a film that's just been released in the cinema will be on DVD right away, normally if its too goo to be true it's a virus, don't click on it, easy. Besides the guy posting will get money for every person that clicks on the links or goes to the website etc

Some of the scams are a lot more sinister that just driving traffic and trying to get up the Google rankings with affiliate linking. I'm guessing most of the sites that link to or host direct downloads of copyright infringing material will be on Googles block lists already in most countries so it's unlikely they're just about planting affiliate links to improve SEO.
