Hi Guys,
I have been a qualified spark for a number of years now.I have also tested and have 2391.Due to being made redundant I am considering going self employed.Do I have to have part P and if so why? and do I have to be registered in order to advertise and do domestic or commercial work .Thanks

Contact your local building control in writing and ask them to reply in writing, building controls differ in what they require from you some insist on part p others dont know what it is. Whatever you do get it in writing as any phone calls will be refuted if you end up in trouble.

A lot of them require part p because it more about the building regs than anything else, one building control I dealt with required part p accredation to governing body and membership of chas and construct line. Thought they were going to tell me what I had to eat for breakfast as well

hello m8

you have to registered with a body to do any domestic work that is notifiable. You dont have to be registered to do commercial work as long as it is not got a dwelling involved. But some commercial businesses may require that you be NICEIC for arguments sake only as its there own personal requirement.

generally domestic must be registered commercial dont have to be.
