My NAPIT field officier phoned me on Friday, he was doing an MCS assessment and the company has installed a system, had a sparki do the AC side and issue cert, and they were stuck for the DC cert. They asked if i would go along and test DC and commision.

TBH i dont feel happy about it? whats anyones thoughts? problem or not?

I can not have got this right ???
Are you saying that in order to pass their inspection the Napit instructor has asked another installer (you) to do the required certs , i know their admission criteria is low for part p"ss but i thought MCS was i little better, F""K ME !!!:disappointed:

Exactly what is the NAPIT officer after? I can't get my head around it.

It's like doing a driving test and the examiner rings one of his mates up to do the reverse parking for you.

It not the officer, but the applicant, they have installed there first system for MCS, he turned up to do assessment and they got NC because they have not tested the DC side, so seen as im close to them, he phoned me to see if i could help them out and do the DC test and issue cert.

There crapping themselves because they wanted to get on the MCS list before the 3rd, my FO told em if they get the DC test done over the weekend and back to him Monday he will get the paperwork off asap.

Using me to bail them out is what this is all about.

I was grilled on my testing and my certs pulled to bits to get my MCS.

That said if they have failed on this and a customer is in the poo for the possible 3/3 deadline then perhaps its not such a bad request?

What ever happens they will be your competition, the guys I have helped with Part P in the past all put work my way when they cannot fit it in.

Best to be on good terms with the competition.

I could see some liability issues here - ie as the certifying company you could end up being held liable for any future problems with the installation.

Sounds like the applicant does not have a solar PV qualification - if so surely they cannot get MCS as they do not have the correct training.

Absolutely. Missing DC tests are hardly a minor issue as far as MCS accreditation is concerned. And even if they were just overlooked, surely the applying company have the ability and tools to carry out the tests themselves?
