Hi All

due to jobs i am now picking up i am looking at joining a scam again ,can anyone tell me the new one on the block who is the cheapest at the mo ,not worried about niceic ect as just doing me own WORK

thanks

RICHARD

A lot of people have mentioned Stroma as being the cheapest.

I'm with Elecsa and like their approach and helpfulness.

Hi murdoch

thanks for quick reply as electrical is not my main job
and i was only getting a few jobs here and there i did not rejoin napit but down my way there seems to be a slow increase in enquiries and hence i have picked up a extension,a security light installation ( 3lights ) garage rewire ect so looks like part p again just want the cheapest

Stroma seems to be a bit of a cowboy outfit if you ask me,they've put all applications on hold for the time being apparantly, because they
don't seem to be able to deal with the sheer volume of applicants

They are ''ALL'' Cowboy outfits!!! Totally geared to take money from working electricians...

Having a register of Qualified Electricians, with a realistic minimum qualification/experience requirement would be the best way to go!! Wouldn't be any Scam providers needed then.

If your talking about existing situation ...The cheapest scam provider, especially in this instance where it is not the OP's main job at the moment!!

Elecsa is £444 a year inclusive of v.a.t,i have never heard of stroma, actually lots of people have never heard of elecsa or even niceic,so as eng54 says we really do need a national register of sparks similar to gas safe, how are things done in the states and oz,licenses for each state i believe, suprised we have not copied them,it works well for them, unfortunatley the govt would miss out on £££££££s if we done it that way.

Definitley agree with the register idea....like above, elecsa is 400+ quid and when they turn up for 3 hours and say well done you know what you're doing, the price seems abit steep.

Ok thanks all going to give elecsa a call

Why are you going to pay 444 quid, when you can get the same benefits for 245 + VAT?? Is the amount of electrical work you'll be doing over the next 12 months going to warrant that expense??

I know why people don't like paying the £450.00 but I simply think about the costs as Marketing - i.e if I didn't have it it would put a huge barrier between me and about 2 days per week of work - and I'm not interested in paying LABC fees, because around my way, 2 x CU changes and I'd be out of pocket!

I Don't mind being part pee again. I do mind being part pee again and again and again. Surely after about 4?5? annual passes I should be trusted. I only had to do my driving test once, and a lot more people are killed on the road than by my work, none so far, before you ask. Apart from owt else, all it means is I've done two jobs in a year that weren't total lash ups.

ither switch gone down or loose conection in them light fittings me thinks don,t you just love choc block terminations

that will do nicely thank you

I see a lot of posts about "Fully qualified" and "Time served."I think its great if one was able to plan one's life to do that all by the book. But I think life is not always like that and one can find one's self becoming a sparky or in another trade for all sorts of reasons.I started as a sparky myself years ago and have now gone back to it.The local plumber was an art teacher who re-trained and I can think of many other examples.I also drove lorries in my younger days and I could probably go and pass my HGV and call myself a qualified driver.I think the operative phrase is "IN AN IDEAL WORLD........."Which it isn't unfortunately.
