Hi all, im new here, just looking for some advice really, so any help would be appreciated :)

Im just about to finish my apprenticeship in electrical engineering maintenance in a power station, and just about to finish my HNC. My work has offered me the chance to do a part time degree fully funded (which obviously i jumped at!). When i applied to my local uni, they accepted me based on me passing my HNC etc, but they said that I would start in year 3 of what is normally a 4 year part time course, meaning i would have a degree in two year. Full time a degree takes 3 years, 2 years if you have a HNC already, so I dont understand how having a HNC will allow me to complete a part time degree in two years.

Does this sound normal, or should it take a lot longer?

Thanks

a degree is based on credits achieved via a range of related courses!

say for example a full degree was 100 credits and you work modules each year at 25 credits a year 25x 4 = 100 will take four years
you hnc for example may be graded at the college as been worth 50 credits already towarda a degree so you only have to achieve a further 50 credits to obtaina full degree!!

a degree is 360 UCAS points, an HNC is equivalent to 120, HND 240, to do that through open university would take 4 years minimum, realistically 6 with an HNC.
dont know how your uni is going to do it but bite their arm off!!!
