Hi,

I'm new to this forum. I had a 4kW PV system installed in 2011 with SMA inverter. It has performed without fault and I'm now considering adding battery storage. I'm looking for advice on the best sort of system to use, and manufacturers and installers in SE England.

My estimated annual load is about 7500 kWh. Solar generation about 4000 kWh. I estimate currently exporting about 1400kWh. I would plan to change to a dual tariff supply and top up battery overnight, which will hopefully significantly reduce peak demand.

Space for hardware is limited (especially close to incoming grid supply). It is likely that I'll have to install battery on an outside wall, so this may affect performance.
My preference at the moment is for an AC coupled system since I already have an inverter for the existing PV installation, but perhaps it might be worth upgrading or replacing this after 10 years?

I've looked at Tesla, Givenergy, Sonnen, Victron, but see there are loads of others jumping on the bandwagon.

I'd be very interested in peoples' views and advice

Sonnen is OK, not tried the other, no problem just connecting to A/C side using a spare breaker. The metering set up is crucial to getting the best out of the system,. As for space, sadly , although wall mounting is OK, they are not small
