I've got a possible job to test up to 3,500 items at a school. Has anyone got experience of this volume of testing and can throw any light on the best type of tester to use. It obviously needs to be downloadable and preferably quick and easy to use
I agree the modern seaward machines are great the primestest 300 or 350 are excellent machines for doing a lot of It equipment in the one room But the europa plus is a good all round pat tester as is the supernaova all of which fit the bill .The supernova would be the one to choose if you have a huge amount of 25a testing to do one after the other as the europa's achilles heel is heat build up when doing a lot of 25a tests..
Another thought YOU NEED a barcode scanner ..will save a massive amount of time as the schools stuff will almost certainly be asset labelled
I also agree with the spark above that that amount of tests solo will do yer heed in best get a hand or you will be there for weeks..
Thanks - great advice, I've got help but I feel I'll need more and a couple of testers at least. I've only done about 300 in a factory before now and that got me near suicidal.
If you have a spare man it can be handy to do it this way.
Man 1 not on the tester strips out the pc leads four way ext leads etc from a room or area
then
man 2 with the tester tests the the aforesaid and when the testings done man 1 puts them all back in place.
man 2 then goes round and does the appliances in situ when man 1 is stripping out the next area.
This can work well but clearly not any use if the place of test is at work,
If you are pricing this job when the appliances are in use then double at least the time its gonna take getting people of their pc's etc and increase the price accordingly to reflect the extra time you will def waste.
A point to bear in mind is the 'Seaward Supernova Plus' is the only tester on the market that will do 110V run tests. This may not be relevant for your current job, but most industrial clients insist on run tests being carried out and most of the power tools/site machinery/cleaning equipment will be 110V.
