I am trying to build a decent tool kit and was just hoping some of you guys could point me in the right direction of which shop or website is best to use and which brands are the best without spending silly money.

cheers, Chris

Hi Paul, I have some tools but I am wanting a good quality of screwdrivers and side cutters/pliers and a good drill. There is so much choice out there I am just looking for a push in the right direction lol Cheers

Hi Chris
Let me know what you are after, I have some fairly new tools I need to get rid of (rationalizing) at a lot lower price than you will pay in the shops, I will need to go through what I have to see if I have what you need.

cheers Pete999, as above really in reply to Paul.M, was looking at new but as long as they are in good condition and have plenty of life then I would be definitely interested in anything you may have.

Got some driver and side cutters, I will check tomorrow when I get home, PM me and we can talk privately if you wish

Pete is a sound guy and well respected member of the forum, so I would snap his hand off he will only sell you quality stuff at a fair price.

Wera drivers. been using mine for half a year and i think they're brilliant for ÂŁ23.30 for 7 one being a volt detector driver(Which i don't use) got a few freebie ones from competitions too.

all pete999's tools are top notch. some are even adapted for use with his zimmer frame ., hehehe.

Haha cheers guys I appreciate the info. I'm getting a few bits off Pete and gonna keep adding bits each week. Been looking at some wera drivers on toolstation that look pretty good. So much choice though. I struggle to choose what sauce to have on my bacon butty let alone which set would be best haha

Not sure if you've seen this already but might be worth a look!

I use Amazon for quite alot of stuff and also a local place (one off tool shop). Worth asking around when you are on site to see what your options are on that front.

As for brands you can't go wrong with the likes of Knipex, Wera, Wiha, Draper Expert, etc. It really depends on your personal preference, it's best to go into a shop so you can actually see and feel the tools before you buy them. I had 3 or 4 sets of screwdrivers before I found the ones that I felt suited me best (Teng). Really a bit of trial and error.
