I've recently rewired a mates kitchen, all new socket postions were needed so just used existing incoming ring legs and fed from there. He now has a new gas cooker so cooker circuit is not needed i still put cooker point in with outlet behind(for future use) but i also put a outlet behind cooker, fed from fcu or dp20amp switch on worktop (not decided yet)for ignitor. firstly is this ok ?just wondering what is good practice as i dont do alot of domestic stuff!!!

can't quite visualise it but your cooker point needs an accessible isolator within 2 metres of where any potential electric cooker would go. It is also notifiable work.

yeh i have fed the outlet behind the cooker via a fcu on the work top just wondering if this was not really needed and gas cooker could of been fed off cooker circuit which is also behind the cooker also fed via cooker switch on worktop?

When you say FCU do you mean a switched DP one and what size fuse:confused: Why not use a 45A cooker isolator? That could have a socket for the gas cooker ignition or if that doesn't fit in then take a fused spur from that to a dedicated socket.
