Best Route into trade?

Hi all,

I have been thinking of training to be an elctrcian for a few years now. I would ideally like to study in London to gain the level 3 city and guilds qualfication. Can anyone recomend some good colleges r alternative routes. I have just this minute had "training for trades" round for a metting and I don't think this is the best option?
Any advice would be apprecited
