In the process of buying more tools after starting out. How would you go about cutting in back boxes and chasing in for that matter on plastered brick walls? Best tools and technique please?

Thanks

scutch chisel (its more accurate and gives neater edges than a cold or bolster chisel), lump hammer, gloves (to stop blisters). its better to get a drill with rotary stop, and use a chisel buit on it, but always have hammer and cold/bolster/scutch handy in case of no power ect.

How about a Quadcut Electricians Box Sinker for the back boxes? Will need to buy a new SDS drill though as mine doesn'y have roto stop! Thanks for replies.

Box sinkers don't last long.

I'm with the scutch and lump hammer crowd, drill outline with depth stop set and knock it out.

IMO it's quicker than a chaser by the time you have cleaned up.

A lot of box sinkers don't need roto stop, centre spindle spins, box stays still but they are the total definition of crud!!!

Wall chaser, decent hover, scutch attachment for the sds, and a traditional scutch and lump hammer just in case

Box sinkers

used once thrown away. ABSOLUTE RUBBISH.

I mark mine out. Scribe it with a good blade as deep as possible then time for the Scutch,

I laser the room first as i hate to see messy layouts,

The first stage of using box sinkers (the rotary cutter) creates so much dust they are a right pain, don't bother with them!

They're crap you can have mine 10 years old, very little use, like new"ish" ÂŁ30 plus postage. Only joking, i wouldnt rip anyone off like that, its not worth its weight in scrap, but it is like new.
