i am currently compiling a spreadsheet of tools required at my place of work since most have gone missing.

one of the jobs we have to do it to cut steel wires securing laptops to desk. (like this: Kensington Desktop Peripherals Locking Kit by Viking)

can anyone recommend a tool for such a job?

thanks

Maybe contact alocksmith and ask him before he comes if he can remove Kensington locks from a laptop or notebook. You can always cut the cable yourself with a grinder using a thin steel disk. Removing the little piece that will be left on the laptop might be a bit more difficult, maybe a dremmel tool with a small cutting disk.

That's all good putting a link that will tell you how to pick a lock, but and this is the big but if to OP is working for local council then they will have a I.T. Department that will stet up all comp and will not give all the keys to the user .so all he has to do is ask for spare key from said department and then unlock them

if they have that many locks they will have some master and or intermediate master keys

(lool into how locks work its interesting)
