I've been asked to go and have a look at some light fittings in an office for the company I work for. I've never even seen this building before as I work out of a depot 25miles away. Anyway the brief details I have are that the tubes have been changed and are too bright. Yep that's it.
I did read a thread on here about lighting in a butcher's shop effecting meat etc and got me thinking maybe there are certain types of tubes for different environments. Now without knowing what fittings, or the tubes themselves which are currently installed its gonna be a hard guess, but can anyone point me in the direction of office specific fluorescent or led lighting please?

The CIBSE Code for Lighting recommends a maintained illuminance of 500 lux for general offices (e.g. writing, typing, reading, data processing, etc). Where the main task is less demanding, e.g. filing, a lower level of 300 lux is recommended.

Fluorescent tubes come in different colour temperatures. What is being described as too "bright" could be too "white" or too "stark"
Offices will have a minimum permitted lux at desk height so whatever method you employ to lessen the brightness in the office, make sure you don't end up with an unsuitable light level. EDIT: Like Lee says above .... lol
