Anyone ever fitted these sockets? Was fitting them today and the back boxes weren’t straight, was absolutely no play in the sockets what’s so ever.

Just got to make sure your back boxes are spot on perfect…..
Yeh
Have also found the cable terminals seem smaller and shallower than some other brands(eg newlec/crabtree)soEasier said than done when it’s a dry lining box lol!!
Simple answer to that is to do the first fix properly, with noggin and 35mm metal box, and save the cheap and nasty plastic boxes for retrofitting when there's little alternative.Easier said than done when it’s a dry lining box lol!!
Definitely. I was only replacing them, and dealing with the annoyance afterwards of trying to level them off and failing miserably lol!Simple answer to that is to do the first fix properly, with noggin and 35mm metal box, and save the cheap and nasty plastic boxes for retrofitting when there's little alternative.
I feel so much better knowing that I'm not alone - in finding them abhorrent, not going back and fixing them (though it's been tempting). Trying to remember where I was just the other day - two fittings on one wall that were about 1/4" different vertically, and a switch with more than a slight list to it. I sooooo wanted to go and get a screwdriver.Otherwise you end up recreating the 'NHS look'. Every waiting room I sit in there's guaranteed to be a socket or light switch not straight. Drives me absolutely nuts.
I reached tipping point once about 15 years ago - I was in Carlisle hospital and after my appointment I went back to car, put on a hi viz and random lanyard, and went back and straightened some. It felt so good....
