Hi, I have been self employed now for just over a year, i have been fine up to know on quoting jobs, but when i was asked to quote for a 4 floor mansion i am struggling, the place is huge, does anyone have any tips on quoting for this, and does anyone quote using price per meter etc?

start with a ball park figure of £1000 per bedroom. then from specification, work out on a point pricing basis. then estimate materials cost + time at hourly rate. take an avearage, you won't be far out.

Sit down with a large cup of coffee and go through it room by room then add it all up. Add your bit on for good luck and you should be ok. Another thing to consider on a large job like this is staged payments. So take for example a 40% deposit then weekly payments for the rest or at first fix then second fix then last payment before issuing the cert.
