As well as my fazer in the op I've got an 81 plate Kwak Ltd in the garage sitting in pieces. It's a project I started a couple years ago but throw in the fact every spare minute I get I spend with my head in a text book, and the fact I've a 6 month old, it just hasn't been touched since March. I will get it finished one day though.

I have a mate who has one of the first horizontal engine BMW's almost rebuilt in his garage. It has been there 30 years that l know of.
Ill health has stopped him finishing it.

It will turn out to be one of those barn finds for someone in the future.
The parts are original sourced , or made by him. His garage is a machine shop.

And there was me getting excited when i saw the title of this thread thinking some of you were into a decent sort of biking :D:D

Looked at an 03 plate Yamaha XJR 1300 the other day whilst I have some idle time , the engine was heavily corroded though , shame really , still keep looking for a nice Jap retro bike ...

Would love a Benelli SEI 750 , 6 Cylinder like I used ti have in the 70s ...

I'd love something a little bigger like an FJR but got too much going on right now. Missus said if the next year or two goes as planned then it might be on the cards

I commute on a Kawasaki ZR-7 02 plate.
It will have a new chain and sprocket set and other service items tomorrow ready for Mondays treck to work :)
I'll add a picture after I clean it lol

mine was a matchless 500cc single.
Similar here. It was old when I rescued it from languising in a disused byre forty odd rears ago. It had a lever on the handlebars for manual advance retard of the ignition. If you got it wrong and tried to kick start it the consequences were not pleasant. You learn.

Try a Honda CB1300 if you get a chance mate, I had one from new for 5 years and the handling defies the weight and size when on the move, they also have a great motor with huge torque and first class build quality/finish.:smiley2:

Thanks Dave I had a blackbird up to a year ago Good. Quality Hondas are The dealer where I looked at the Yammy had a VFR 1200 but I don't like it, I tried a 750 four back in the 70s and now I fancy something retro like back then , I will look at the CB though , cheers for that

I only sold mine because I got smitten by the CB1000R when it came out, the 1300 is nothing like a Blackbird performance wise but the acceleration is really strong and it's plenty quick enough for a 'naked' bike. [Very comfortable riding position too] I don't like the VFR either , very tempted by the new Suzuki GSXS1000 though. :)

Its comfort Im after , the Blackbird was ok but the low bars made my wrists and back ache , after a while , just been looking at
the old Kwak Z1 from 73 on MCN bikes for sale , now that would be nice , except the price that is ....

I know mate, certain old Jap classics are fetching ridiculous money, fuelled by nostalgia I expect. But although the Z1 was great in its day the performance, braking and handling are generally pretty atrocious by modern standards. Although I'd have a huge garage full of old and newer bikes if I won the lottery. :tongue3:
