Got a contact in the Carlisle area that has a badly installed biomass system and needs good advice.

PM me if you can help.

TIA

Design cock up, by the sounds of things:

Installed: One 45kW log gassification boiler, two stone built properties, one old, one 5 years old, no heat sink rads, one SMALL thermal store in the newer property.
Needs redesigning from scratch based on what the rads (emitters) are, heat load requirements, and the boiler he's got.

Once the design has been done to MCS standards and properly buffered, then re-installing / reconfiguring is the easy task!

Yep, Goes back to the Energy Act 2004:
“(6) For the purposes of this section “microgeneration” means the use for the generation of electricity or the production of heat of any plant—“ [emphasis added]
“(8) That capacity is—
(a) in relation to the generation of electricity, 50 kilowatts;
(b) in relation to the production of heat, 45 kilowatts thermal.”

There are now discussions AND Consultations on how your define 45kW (think 4kW solar :) )

Dunno, he's gone out to look at the name and rating plate and sending me a bunch of photos

Is there something I should know about Dragon's?

Trading Standards should also be contacted if they are not getting results they were quoted they would get as to me it is a case of mis-selling

Maybe, however beating up the original installer / supply doesn't get it fixed in time for the coming winter. Also depends whether it was done under a commercial or consumer contract, and whether MCS and RECC come into play.

The first thing is to get him fixed up.
