P

paulthe spark

i see ive not posted on these forums in some weeks so just thought id say helo to everyone and hope everyones doing ok. Im just back from a week in blackpool and after chatting to the owner over a fair few pints and after he found out i was a spark he informed me he just had his guest house rewired for a total cost of 9 grand and he thought hed been ripped off. I told him i don't really do rewires but this seemed like a fair price to me considering it 3 levels and is a decent size house. Decent job i suppose from the outside all done in pvc trunkin, not what id have chosen but its blackpook right .A had a bit of a nosey and noticed a main board has been fitted on each level so 3 consumer units in total (not fitted to 17th standards i may add) anyway never really came across this before was just wondering how this would be wired. Would you have 3 sets of tails going back to a meter somewhere i would imagine, ?? as i say never came across this

cheers

The consumer units on each level are sub-mains and are probably all fed back to some isolators where the supply is located as your tails shouldnt exceed 3 or 4m from the electric meter without having independant overload protection, cant comment on the price as you never said how many bedrooms or what each bedroom has.
If there is any concern id have a periodic inspection done but an installation cert should have been issued with the job anyway.
