Hi alall what's the best way of running cables on block and beam new build? Obviously you can use conduit but has anyone clipped cables to the wooden batting that the ceiling plaster board will sit on? Would you say that it would be an acceptable way to do it?

Yea domestic new build but doing it in conduit will cost more. All access is open as new build so I was thinking off running cables on buttons that the ceiling will fix to as it will rcd protected.

If you go with T+E i would suggest the same as MDJ , but use the Hilti plastic loops instead as they will be a hell of a lot faster to work with .

The new build is block and beam floors to ground floor, 1st floor and 2nd floor. They will have to lay insulation down on top of floors so don't really want to lay cables along as they will only get damaged. So like mike said I was thinking of running cables from below and up so use the battons of the ceiling. I will use them loops to fix rounder side of block and beam and run around perimeter of room so minimising risk of damage.

The only other way is steel conduit but that will bump price right up and take longer anyone else done it this way?

trouble with the battens is usually they only stick a 40mm2 batten to the ceiling for the plasterboard, you won't be able to clip more than 2 cables to the side of it, the all round band is the way to go IMO fella.

I think metal is a bit over kill if you do go the conduit route .
To be honest the ones we have completed have all been in T+E , as even with tube the chances of a future refurb still using the existing containment would be almost impossible in every case .

just run the lighting in the ceiling ,clip it to the side of the battens
install the power ect on the floor in hip conduit if the floor is being screeded
fix the conduit down with a hilti gun and half saddles
