Has anyone come across these? Are they supposed to be any good?

I would be asking my local Worcester Bosch rep what he thinks about it. I had a ding-dong with an architect where a Ravenheat boiler with flue gas heat recovery had been specified. Not only are the boilers something I wouldn't go near, the gains from the recovery system are doubtful especially when heating water only. It was so complex as to be laughable. A WB director told me the gains were simply not worth the investment.

It may be the claims being made here are not justified with a brand spanking new boiler.

Smart energy sold the advanced version as "smart energy master" very expensive weather compensation controls.

It's a bit of a bodge, there are far better solutions out there, most modern boiler have the ability to add in proper wether compensation.
Also the bigger question is why is the boiler cycling - it's probably something to do with poor desig or installtion (configuration) of the existing system - better to fix the problem than the sympton.

Has anyone tried this? Chop-Cloc: Less energy, same comfort

Seems pretty simple and cheap. They reckon it only takes an hour to install and pays for itself in a year.
