Hi all, when it comes to wiring for boilers is there generally a hard and fast rule?
In other words if someone said to me that they were having a y plan system installed how would i know what cables to install and where to, if you get my drift.

Any advice greatly appreciated

Try this link the diagrams are usefull S and Y plans amongst them. There are quite a few system types dependant on boiler and pump types gravity fed systems are less complicated as are combi boiler installs. Fully pumped with 3 port valves and stats for room and immersion tanks a little more complicated. But by studying the types and diagrams it eventually all makes sense.

Illustrations and drawings providing design and installation details

hi
i always use the diagrams provided by a honeywell control programmer, they have the 4 different types of system "y-plan" "s-plan" "c-plan " and "w-plan" most common y and s
any make of control programmer should have diagrams with the programmer

As a guide allways provide a direct suppply to the boiler and then to the controls from the boiler
All modern boilers require controls to be fed from them and some even us 24v to be switched via motorised valves to switch on boiler via S plan so be carefull .

You really should be careful with boiler wiring, mainly because of the feeds etc required to go to the boiler.

Especially if a room stat is used.

Maybe ask the plumber what make and model he is installing, so that you can look up the manual.
