Good afternoon all,
I have been asked to look at a problem with a bolted neutral but no one seems to know what exactly is the problem.
SSE metering want to install new smart meters at a block of flats but have flagged that as it is a bolted neutral bar. SSE have said that this cannot be carried out until it has been rectified. I have spoken to metering but I an now in a long technical route trying to locate an engineer who knows what is actually needed.
There are no fused switched isolators from the main fuses so I'm guessing that this is the main problem as the neutral cannot be safely isolated. Could really do with a new Ryefield chamber as well.
There are no hot spots noted but there are some neutral cables doubled up.
There are seven flats at this site with another 6 blocks with around 6/7 flats in each. all wired the same way!
Any ideas welcome.
