What are your thoughts on this scheme?

The client account is free for me through my bank but I do like the idea of the full amount being available so no chance of getting scammed, but the ÂŁ25 price tag is yet another expense?

Do you reckon the customer would be put off paying for it all upfront though?

Providing they pay up quick it sounds like it may be worth it, but then if the customer kicked off you I doubt you get the money released anyway, and I doubt you'd get away with taking the panels back off the roof under that sort of deal either.

Better off edging your bets and saving ÂŁ25 which at the rate it's going, will be 50% of the net profit per install before long

Of course they will, this just makes Solar Installers look like scammers.

If we can't be trusted to 'look after' 25% of the total contract value when lets be fair, it's going to cost us that again to buy the bits in anyway, why shouldn't 'we' be trusted to to look after the whole damm thing?

Why can't we ask for 50% up front? If this industry is going the way I think it's going, we're going to back in the days where we have to itemise every item including labour, where do you hide your profit?

We don't because I trust my customers and they trust me, this just adds fuel to the fire I'm afraid or maybe I've drunk too much already:)

You know it does state that secondary accounts aren't suitable? My bank (natwest) set up a client deposit account for me for free, I can transfer money via the usual methods so i really don't know what the difference is, maybe that legally the administrators can't take it back if I get into any financial bother.

The reality is i'd have probably spent it by then anyway!

I'm already sick to death of the stupidness of MCS and REAL, why add to the hassle of any more admin? I used to be a civil servant and it feels like I'm back there

Natwest are utterly useless and want to charge us ÂŁ15/month even though I have next year's tax in an account already - earning them interest! Don't start me off on banks!

Me too the sense of deja vu is overwhelming!

It took a bit of explaining as to what I wanted, they offer another account which is similar but gives the client access to the funds as well, that was chargeable but designed for corporate set ups or charities etc

Definitely no charge for me
